This is fun, sorry if I'm boring you, heck I might be the only person who ever reads this, but I don't mind, I'm just having a quiet evening in tonight. Maybe I'll have a glass of wine to end the evening. The weather has been atrocious this week, apparantly it's something to do with the jetstream being in the wrong place, it should be a lot further North, but it appears to be right over our heads. It feels so Autumnal, and it's still only July. I feel sorry for any holidaymakers we have down here at the moment, it is worrying as tourism is really the only industry we have here now.
Cornwall used to be a tin mining area, but they area all closed now, apparantly there is still plenty of tin underground, it's just that the price is so low at the moment it's not economically viable to mine. In Cornwall there is the world renowned Camborne School of Mines, it is without doubt something to be proud of. There is a saying hereabouts that if there is a hole in the ground, you'll find a Cornishman at the bottom.
Hello this is my first ever blog, I hope you enjoy it, I'm in my late forties, and as my name suggests I live in Cornwall. One of the most beautiful areas of the United Kingdom. I just live an ordinary life, but sometimes I think they can be the most interesting. I have two grown up children, and have been married for 27 years. I love my husband and childrem more than I can explain, I have no words to describe the magnitude of my love for them.
Anyway, what has today brought me, I have been packing for a trip tomorrow to visit my brother, his wife passed away in April, she had bravely fought breast cancer for many years, but eventually lost her battle. She was a brave, wonderful, kind, inspirational woman, who kept her sense of humour until the very end. Anyway, on Monday we are attending a fundraiser my brother has organised, for her favourite charities. So we have a long journey to North East England.
Today I went out for lunch with my lovely daughter, we were overlooking the sea, and the waves were fierce, and crashing onto the beach. It was magnificent. On days like this I get reminded that mother nature really is in charge. Sometimes holidaymakers to this area don't understand the strength of the sea, and can get into trouble. We have a fantastic lifeguard service, mainly run by the RNLI which is run entirely by donation. We should try not to put ourselves at risk, so their resources are not overburdened.
